Why TransLex?
We believe that translation is a crucial part of legal practice. Inaccuracies and poor readability can cause misunderstandings at best and distortion of content at worst. Accurate and fluent translation reflects the quality of the source document and clearly conveys its contents.
Translations done and proofread by lawyers mean no time is needed to decipher convoluted and confused translations. They also keep reviewing to a minimum, saving on billable time and opportunity cost since, if a lawyer spends, say, half an hour reviewing a good translation, a poorly executed one will take double or triple the time to edit.
All translators we work with are bilingual lawyers who have trained in at least two legal systems and practised at firms worldwide (including Debevoise & Plimpton, Cleary Gottlieb and White & Case). This practical experience gives them a deep understanding of legal content and linguistic conventions in both languages and legal systems.
Aside from the strict procedures we have in place to protect confidentiality, as lawyers we are also bound by the various bar associations and ethics codes we belong to. Having worked in pressured environments, we are used to the demands of tight deadlines.
