English Translation of a Strategic Letter from the CEO to the CSE of a Tech Company

12 November 2025 - News

We recently translated from French into English an official letter issued by the chairman of the board of directors of an international technology company, responding to questions from the Comité social et économique (CSE) regarding the company’s strategic guidelines.

Context: Health Crisis, Digital Transition, and Employee Expectations

This letter was part of the legally required information-consultation process, in a context shaped by:

  • post-Covid uncertainties,

  • the company’s transformation,

  • global regulatory changes (such as the progressive cookies phase-out),

  • and evolving market and competitive conditions.

The document also referred to a negative opinion from the CSE, based on the report of an external accounting expert, as well as disclosure obligations towards the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

A Translation at the Crossroads of Governance, Strategy, and Social Dialogue

This project required:

  • precise and fluent translation of institutional language,

  • a solid grasp of managerial communication issues,

  • and the ability to adapt the style for a diverse English-speaking audience, including employees, investors, and employee representatives.

The goal was to render the executive’s message clear, diplomatic, and consistent with Anglo-Saxon practices in internal communication and corporate governance.

❓ FAQ: English translation of a chairman's letter to the CSE

What kind of document was this?

An official letter from the chairman of the board of a technology company, answering the Comité social et économique's questions on the company's strategic guidelines. It formed part of the legally required information-consultation process.

Why keep "CSE" and explain its concepts rather than translate it outright?

Because the Comité social et économique has no direct Anglo-Saxon equivalent. "Information et consultation" is rendered as information-consultation and "avis négatif" as negative opinion, preserving the French procedural frame while staying readable.

What made this translation demanding?

Balancing institutional language, managerial communication, and social dialogue. The style had to suit a mixed audience of employees, investors, and employee representatives, and the message had to read as diplomatic and consistent with Anglo-Saxon governance practice.

How are references such as the SEC or the cookies phase-out handled?

The SEC is spelled out as the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, and the move away from cookies becomes cookies phase-out. These choices keep the regulatory precision an international readership expects.
