Dans le langage courant,  le substantif vest se traduit par  « maillot de corps » ou  « gilet ».

 

Dans un contexte juridique, le verbe to vest, signifie soit « acquérir » (Vested rights se traduit par  « droits acquis »), soit par  « investir » ou  « conférer » :

Dans le domaine financier, il est possible de rencontrer le terme vesting of securities, qui se traduit par  « acquisition » de titres ou valeurs mobilières.
